The Compass
”The Compass” is the plan solution where the principle of the classification plays an important role in pointing out the four points of the compass!
Tranguebar is a coffee shop for absorption and reflection. Books and CD´s can be found on tall shelves, primarily in the back of the place.
“The Mixer Panel” is the centre of the room where the customer desk is situated. From the “Mixer Panel” it is possible to constantly have the contact with the customers – no matter where he is situated in the room. Here the customer comes to listen to CD´s, look up books in the computers and pay. It is also the heart of the café where the coffee is being served.
The Meeting Room” is a part of the café and is only enclosed for the rest of the place when meetings of a more private character are taking place. “ The Book Café” is directing the street in the full extent of the glass façade. Here one is sitting with the shelves ‘in the back’ but still facing the throbbing life of the city.
With very few but effective means a strong and consequent spatial experience has been created and thereby a full exploitation of the potentials in the place.
